The hotel is perfectly situated above the back door, providing a great view of the piazza and village. The location is ideal for a short stay with bed and breakfast. The experience was slightly marred by the noisy slamming of the back door, shaking the whole room for hours, but overall a good value for money stay.

The hotel is situated right in the heart of Ambleside, an older building with sash windows. The rooms were tired, with scratched/chipped paintwork, but apart from the heat, they were comfortable. However, facing the main road generated some noise, but not from the downstairs pub.
